Panfora Oil & Gas begins construction of the first exploration well in Dorobanți

PANFORA OIL & GAS S.R.L. will begin construction of its exploration well 1E – Dorobanți on 10 January 2022.

The construction works will take place on the parcel with the Land book no. 304514 -Extravilan Dorobanți, located in Dorobanți village, in Arad county.

The construction works will be started by Aqua Construct Srl, a company headquartered at, Ștefan Augustin Doinaș, Nr.18, Ap.1, Arad and the set duration of the works is maximum 6 months.

For this purpose, Panfora holds the Building Authorization No. 9, issued on 15 November 2021 by the Public Administration of Dorobanti County based on the documentation 4520/27-10-2021, which the company had filed at Dorobanți Mayors’ Office.

The possible decision taken by the Arad Environmental Protection Agency may be to issue or to reject the request to issue the environmental agreement.

NAMR confirms: Panfora Oil & Gas is not searching for shale gas. The company will carry out 3D measurements exclusively on public roads

The National Agency for Mineral Resources reiterates the confirmation that Panfora Oil & Gas is not looking for shale gas in EX-6 Curtici
Panfora pledges to protect local farming and to work together with communities for a safe and beneficial exploration and exploitation of conventional natural resources in the area.
The 3D computerized exploration measurements will be performed exclusively on public roads

Bucharest, 15 November 2020 – NAMR (National Agency for Mineral Resources), the sole governmental institution responsible for assigning licenses for exploration and exploitation of mineral resources in Romania, reiterated its confirmation that Panfora Oil & Gas working plans in the Curtici area do not include any reference to shale gas.

In a formal document issued in November, NAMR confirmed that Panfora Oil & Gas, the holder and operator of the Oil Concession Agreement for exploration - development - exploitation within the perimeter of EX-6 Curtici, approved by H.G. no. 1185/2012, “does not contain works that have the nature and purpose of the exploration and exploitation of shale gas”.

This is the second formal confirmation from NAMR that Panfora Oil & Gas is in no way searching for shale gas within its work program in EX-6 Curtici block.

To address farmers’ concerns in the area, the company will perform 3D Geophysical surface computerised measurements exclusively on public roads. The measurements will be performed by special trucks driving around, without blocking the traffic and using small wireless microphones. The state-of-the-art technologies will allow the company to explore new conventional hydrocarbons, oil and natural gas in conventional rock formations without any impact on the environment.

In the second phase, next year, depending on obtaining all necessary permits from the environment agency, the company will drill a maximum of four wells on its own land to identify conventional mineral resources. There is no danger of even identifying shale gas resources as the work programme allows drilling up to the maximum depth of 2,000 meters, where no shale gas could be found.

Panfora maintains its proposal towards the local communities to sign legally binding agreements to assure them once again that it is not looking for shale gas and that it will perform all operations in line with the highest environmental standards and only after getting the appropriate environmental permits from Romanian authorities.
